Greenacre Orthodontics Academy
North Wales Dental Academy welcomes on board Greenacre Orthodontics, Connahs Quay, as one of its first academy practices.
Owaise Sharif, a qualified Orthodontist Consultant and Fyeza Sharif, a qualified Specialist Orthodontist, will supervise, tutor and provide support to students studying Orthodontic Therapy training starting from June 2023.
Chantelle Roberts, Dental Nurse, has successfully gained a place on the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy course, a full-time course studied over 12 months and will be the first student to be supervised at Greenacre Orthodontics. The Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy course involves a four-week core course which is held at the Leeds Dental Institute and eight additional study days. The rest of the course is workplace training, which requires working with a qualified orthodontic specialist. Chantelle will be fulfilling her training over two sites, the Orthodontic department at Glan Clwyd Hospital and Greenacre Orthodontics.
Peter Greensmith, Director of North Wales Dental Academy, said, “It’s fantastic to be able to bring Greenacre Orthodontics on board with the Academy; we are extremely lucky to have Orthodontic Specialists in the region who are enthusiastic and understand the value in training and upskilling of all members of the dental team. We wish both Greenacre Orthodontics and Chantelle all the very best over the next twelve months, and we are looking forward to working in partnership with Greenacre Orthodontics to develop future opportunities to extend our training and upskilling within the region”.
The academy welcomes any practice in North Wales to come forward and discuss ideas and opportunities to strengthen the region’s offering. Our ambition is to create multiple academies across North Wales, allowing our dental workforce opportunities to upskill and train in all areas with the aim to improve recruitment and retention.
